Just sounds like there might be a touch of racism. Having met Hyperion a few times I have to say he doesn't look dodgy whatsoever. Just your run of the mill young guy. Doesn't dress in chavvy or 'hoodie' clothing.
I remember back when I was teen, there was a group of us just walking through St John's Wood in London and the police pulled up. Asked us a few questions and then ONLY decided to search the one black guy in our group.
Fortunately, my kind don't get hassle from the police because we are an ethnic group that have a reputation of keeping our heads down and staying out of the troubles of mainstream society.
I'm just saying all this in light of a recent story that's been in the news of some adviser to the police (who's black)who was stopped searched over 100 times in the past few years for no reasonat all by the police. That is because your ethnic group does all of it's herra crime in secret!

Black guy in stop and search shocker. Surely you're used to it by now?

And as I also said, I'm not here to argue with anyone and I'm not going to defend the police as a whole because, as with every organisation, there are always going to be flaws which need to be addressed as an ongoing process. I just wanted to add an opposite perspective to the situation.
The problem with the police is, the flaws don't get addressed. So many of them are rude and/or racist and/or violent and what happens to them? Nothing. Is it any wonder nobody trusts or likes them?

Is doing a good job all the time regardless of whether I need them not an option?
Do you have to be so pedantic all the time? I think I do, yes. As someone else has since mentioned, it would be easier to accept that there are just a few bad apples if anything bad happened to said bad apples. Even if you're 100% in the right, in most customer services jobs being rude and antagonistic is a great way to get disciplined or even fired. And that's when your customers have actually come to you to use their service, rather than being chosen at random from the general population.

Black guy in stop and search shocker. Thats what I thought when I read it. If you havent done anything and you're not in a rush then dont worry yourself. As for the bizarre pleasantries, when I hilariously got cautioned for trying to buy weed in Brixton the police (after making a sweeping "I bet thats not all you've got on you" statement following my saying I was a financial adviser, which received a very curt response) the guy asked me what he should be investing in, so for 5 minutes I was lecturing my arresting officers on the risks inherent in the emerging markets, and getting out of commercial property. It was good advice too, they should've paid me rather than cautioned me.

I think I was stopped, searched and questioned by police with guns once, but I can't be sure because I don't remember. But the report in the paper said that a police spokesperson said that in this case the man questioned was fully co-operative, which made it much easier for them to do their job, which sounds a lot like me when I'm shitfaced.

this thread is hilarious!
i get the impression all hyperion was saying "got stopped by the police and it was a bit of a hindrance" rather than "FUCK THE SYSTEM! I WAS OPRESSED BY THE MAN AND I WON'T STAND FOR IT!" so i can't really understand the reaction that this thread got.
i'm going to go out and commit some crimes to redress the balance though.
